Following the viral Malaysian TikToker, Abang Bas, and his intimacy with his niece, many social media users are highlighting their concern regarding the matter. Just recently, another screenshot of “intimacy” between an uncle and his niece has gone viral again.

In a Facebook post by Helmi Effendy, the user expressed his concern about boundaries and showed a blurred screenshot of a man feeding chocolate to a kid, allegedly his niece, with his mouth.

Many people called the act “cute, sweet”, and 1 of them even jokingly offered to trade places with the niece because her uncle is handsome.

“Let’s trade places, kid.”

“She is so cute. Her hijab is so neat.”

“I have to wait until my niece is born.”

“This is so cute. Her uncle is so sweet.”

What shocked Helmi about the post was the staggering amount of people who were on board with the intimacy, which he dubbed “pedophile enablers.”

The TikTok video was taken in 2022 but it’s circulating on social media again following the arrest of Abang Bas and his clarification on the matter.

“Our society is sick”

In his post, Helmi expressed his regret in seeing the comments left by the netizens, which illustrates the lack of awareness about boundaries.

“People don’t know what type of touch is deemed safe anymore. They don’t know how to identify sexual jokes, which has elements of prohibited love.”

Helmi also said that he expected to see social media users highlighting their concerns about the matter, but he was proven wrong after watching the viral clip.

“The video gained 2 million views. Are you telling me that none of them had common sense?”

With the recent case involving Abang Bas, Helmi connected the dots and said he finally understood from whence the “enablers” came.

Social media users who came across Helmi’s post were also baffled to see many netizens are enabling the act of child grooming.

“There are no stupid kids, just stupid parents.”

“I suggest everyone watch Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. We’ll be more aware of what goes on around us.”

“It’s not just the men but many women today are child groomers. Both are at fault, so just beware of the people around you.”

“Sexual grooming at an early age. I hope the parents realise before it’s too late.”

“This has a hint of incest.”

It’s a luxury to have a close relationship with your relatives, but how do you draw boundaries?
