Yesterday (22 January), it was reported that a group of men intimidated an elderly man into apologising to a woman after he had scolded her for double-parking, which subsequently led to his car being blocked in. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) later clarified that the matter was settled following a mediation session with the Batu Pahat police.

It appears that the group had allegedly forced the man to apologise on camera, as a video has now surfaced of the elderly man’s recorded apology.

Khalat band took to its Facebook page to showcase the apology video, calling for “other gangsters” to assist the uncle in obtaining an apology from those who had intimidated him.

They wrote, “We hope that other gangsters will get involved and help this uncle. We do want to see them apologising to the uncle. It’s easy for the wife of a gangster to park (anywhere they like) ‘just because’. Parking as they please.”

The apology video

In the video, the elderly man explained that he had loudly scolded the woman after coming out of a restaurant and finding that the woman had double-parked her car. One of the men confronting him asked the elderly man what he said when he scolded the woman, to which the elderly man responded with “You got money, so you win?” in reference to her vehicle being expensive.

The man then asked the elderly man, “Why did you say that? What does double-parking and having money have to do with each other?

“So, I am now telling you guys that I am sorry. I said the wrong thing. I apologise, I’m saying I’m sorry,” the elderly man said.

Another man then asked the leader of the group, “Okay boss, how now?” to which another man asked the woman, “Do you accept this, lady boss?” before the video gets cut off.

“Take action!”

Many shared their dissatisfaction over how the elderly man was treated, as they believe what the group did is considered criminal intimidation, and urged the police to take action against the group.

“If a lawyer is needed, I can help to issue a letter. Threats are a criminal offence under Section 503 of the Penal Code (definition) and is punishable under Section 506 of the Penal Code, involving jail time, a fine or both.”

“PDRM, please take action. If not, others will follow suit and thugs will make their own rules. The effect will be worse. I hope action will be taken.”

“They’re being embarrassing, with 5 or 6 people surrounding and bullying an elderly man. I call for PDRM to take the appropriate action against them. This is considered a threat.”

“PDRM, don’t give them face, catch all of them. There is footage, what are you waiting for? These are threats, it’s a crime.”
