The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) is encouraging more non-Malay individuals to consider a career in the military.
ATM Chief, General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar, stated that through military service, individuals will experience true professionalism, along with the challenges that come with joining the ATM.
“I urge other ethnic groups to join the ATM. The challenge begins here, and you will truly understand the meaning of professionalism.”

He added during a press conference today, “Therefore, I call on them to view the ATM as an open career opportunity, as we are also a professional field that is vastly different from others.”
Earlier today, the Commissioning Parade and Presentation of Commissioning Certificates for ATM Cadet Officers took place at Kem Perdana, Sungai Besi, officiated by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim.
General Mohd Nizam shared that a total of 509 Cadet Officers were commissioned today. Of that number, Malays made up the majority with 496, followed by Indians (14), Chinese (8), and others including Bumiputera from Sabah and Sarawak (20).

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong graced the Royal Commissioning Parade and Presentation of Commissioning Certificates for ATM Cadet Officers 2025 at Dataran Panglima Tentera Darat, Kem Perdana Sungai Besi.
This ceremony serves as official recognition for ATM Cadet Officers who have successfully completed their military training, marking the beginning of their duties and responsibilities as Junior Officers in all three branches of the ATM.
