To the surprise of many, Vietnam had announced that all of its Covid-19 patients have been cured on the 25th of February 2020. However, Vietnam recently saw a reintroduction in the number of cases and this has exceeded its previous history of 16 cases. According to Free Malaysia Today, the number of infected patients has experienced a drastic rise following the reintroduction of the virus on a flight from Britain.

Today (11th of March), Vietnam’s health ministry reported a total of 35 recorded Coronavirus cases, which is double the amount from the initial 16 cases. According to the report, 13 passengers who were on a Vietnam Airlines flight from London to Hanoi on 2nd of March tested positive for the virus. Most of the patients are either British or Vietnamese people who had travelled to other parts of Europe, including Italy.

The latest recorded case in Vietnam is a 29-year-old saleswoman in the area of Danang. She has had close contact with two infected British tourists from the flight on March 4th, stated the ministry. To date, there has been no death caused by Covid-19 recorded yet in Vietnam.

To overcome this sudden and unexpected rise, the Vietnam government has suspended visa-free travel for citizens from eight European countries. According to the government’s official website, this suspension includes Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain.
