In the Rio Paralympics 2016, Malaysia creates history as Bolehland bags two gold medals!
Both Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi and Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli were the talented individuals responsible for making Malaysians every where proud.
By winning golds, ‘Negaraku’ was aired in the stadium while the flag was slowly raised during the award ceremony. The heartfelt moment left goosebumps to any Malaysian who is watching it. And just like the athletes who couldn’t contain their tears, so couldn’t we.
Watch the touching moments below:
Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi claimed the first gold in the 100m T36 (celebral palsy) event, finishing his 100m T36 race in 12.07 seconds, ahead of Yang Yifei of China who crossed the line at 12.20s and Rodrigo Parreira da Silva of Brazil in 12.54s.
The second medal was won by Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli in the men’s shot put F20 (intellectual disability) event, where he shot a distance of 16.84 metres. Besides bagging a medal home and making Malaysians proud, the strongman broke a world record by hurling at a distance of 16.84m, breaking the previous record of 16.29m set by Todd Hodgetts of Australia in 2012.
One could only imagine how hard these athletes have trained to get to where they are now.
You go guys! On behalf of all Malaysians, thank you so much, for all your blood, sweat and tears.
