Although we are currently being blessed with rainy days in Malaysia, Indonesia is experiencing blazing hot days on a daily basis at the moment.
As reported by Sinar Harian, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency of Indonesia (BMKG) said they will probably experience more than 39 Celcius maximum temperature till the end of October.
Due to the unusual heat, a popular video trend has been circulating through social media that shows people utilising the heat from the scorching sun to fry eggs.
An Instagram account called Info Makassar shared a video of a woman placing a wok on the side road and a little bit of oil in it before cracking an egg in it. She even sprinkled some seasoning in.
No one can really tell the exact location shown in the video, but you can see that the egg cooked almost instantly.
Though we can’t find the first video, another video of the same act was shared on Info Makassar. According to the page, a few areas around the Javanese Island have had to suffer this extreme heat.
Did you see that? The pan sizzled weh!
To explain, the Vice Director of Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Agus Haryono said that it is possible to cook using the sunlight.
However, he reassured the public that they shouldn’t worry much because they are not experiencing boiling point temperatures, as water will only boil when it reaches 100 Celcius, while it will take 170 to 180 Celcius of heat to actually be able to use oil for cooking.
That considered, the egg should take a longer time to fully cook.
So, it is possible that the people have been pre-heating the pan under the sunny weather before frying the egg. Even if it’s a prank, we could say that it is a harmless one.
