Elephants are considered gentle giants for a reason. In this latest incident, we’re about to understand just why that is.
Recently, a video of a herd of wild elephants destroying a banana plantation in Tamil Nadu went viral after the group decided to trample over everything and left behind just one tree. Why?
Because it had a bird’s nest on it!
According to India Times, the incident took place in Sathyamangala, a town in Erode district.
In the video, five wild elephants were seen entering the town after leaving the Vilamundi Forest. The elephants then entered the garden of a man identified as Krishnasamy and damaged over 300 banana trees.
The video was shared by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda on Friday. In the clip, villagers analysed the destruction caused by the wild elephants, while the bird’s nest was left untouched and unharmed.
“This is the reason why elephants are called gentle giants. Destroyed all the banana trees, except the one having nests. Gods amazing nature,” the IFS officer said.
