Recently, a TikTok video of a troop of monkeys attacking a college student has gone viral, garnering over 4.5 million views in just one day!

The video that was shared on 31 March showed a young college student outside of a hostel screaming at the top of her lungs while running away from 3 monkeys. The video was being recorded by a friend from one of the upper dorms in the hostel.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Majidah Wan Salleh (the friend who recorded the video) tells us that the incident happened on 31 March around 6pm at their college hostel located in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

The 22-year-old student said that the hostel is situated next to a jungle which is why it is very common for them to see troops of monkeys wandering around in the evening.

“Every evening, there will always be a troop of wild monkeys. However, on that specific day, there were a lot more monkeys wandering around than usual. Even I was surprised,” she told WORLD OF BUZZ.

“I was relaxing and decided to take a break as there were no classes that day. I was simply recording a video of the area near my college,” she said.

“When I was in the corridor on the 3rd floor, I happened to see my classmate, Auji Fathiah outside doing her laundry. So I started to chat with her from upstairs while she was downstairs,” she added.

Majidah added that her friend Auji had innocently provoked a baby monkey prior to the attack.

“There was a baby monkey in the area when she was about to do her laundry. Naturally, she shooed the baby monkey away into the jungle.”

However, Auji did not expect the baby monkey to come back with two bigger monkeys 10 minutes later. She assumed that it could have been the baby monkey’s parents.

She said that they have now learnt their lesson and Auji blames herself for doing her laundry at that time.
