A trip from Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) to KL city costing over RM200 may sound outrageous, but many passengers had no choice but to pay the fare.
A Toyota Vellfire driver charged his passengers RM225 for the journey, with payment collected upon arrival. He had reportedly been operating this way since 2022.

Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) Director Azrin Borhan said initial investigations revealed that the 59-year-old driver had persuaded, pleaded with, and offered transport services to six Belgian passengers from KLIA2 to KL. The vehicle has since been seized. According to JPJ, the driver’s license was still active, and he claimed he was doing the job to earn extra income.
Previously, Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated that JPJ had detained a couple who extorted over RM800 from Chinese tourists and allegedly slapped them for refusing to pay the fare.
Azrin Borhan added that any individual found guilty could face action under Section 205(1) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, which provides for a fine not exceeding RM50,000, imprisonment for up to five years, or both, upon conviction. Anyone found abetting such activities may also be charged under Section 243(1) of the same Act.

He emphasised that the public is advised to use legal transportation services, either through service counters at KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, or by booking via e-hailing applications, as shared in a Facebook post by Selangor JPJ.
“Any traffic complaints can be submitted to ym.vog.jpj@kifartnauda or via the e-aduan@JPJ application platform, along with the complainant’s details and relevant information,” he said.
