Being able to get into the local government universities is not a small feat at all! Even the application itself is a headache and what more STPM? Just thinking about it is giving me a full-on flashback, brrrr!

However, once you get in, you get to enjoy several really cool perks aside from the very affordable tuition, and one perk most Malaysians may not know about is the dorm rooms, which can be absolutely spectacular!

A Facebook post by USM has gone viral on 30th August with 3.2k shares as of the time of writing. Why, you wonder? That’s cause this post features a few photos of the new dorm rooms in USM and they look really cool! But before we show you the new rooms, take a look at the old ones first, ok?

That’s hardly the dorm rooms we see in Hollywood movies that make up our idealised version of uni life, but most uni students will tell you that Malaysian uni life is never quite as eventful as the movies and dramas make them out to be, and our dorms are nowhere near as cool looking for sure. Until today that is!

These will be the new USM dorm rooms! Brb, MIND. BLOWN!

OMG they look soooo good! They’re even comparable to the ones in private universities overseas!

USM said in the post that they are redefining dorm rooms to empower students. These new dorm rooms will be introduced in several phases and of course, the price will be different la, but for all the effort that went into decorating these rooms and making them an actual space for students to live in, it’s only rational! Hopefully, these rooms will be maintained well by their inhabitants – we’re pretty sure there will be plenty of new rules to make sure they don’t get trashed after a week of being lived in.

That’s a really nice effort to make sure that the needs of the students are met! We hope that the students will look after these beautiful rooms!
