According to Astro Awani, Strategic Planning and Risk and Quality Systems Management Centre Director Assoc Prof Madya Engku Fadzli Hasan Syed Abdullah said that robot Naseem stole the show during the ceremony. There were more than 1,500 graduates, staff and parents who attended the ceremony in Al Muktafi Billah Shah Hall and they were surprised by the presence of the robot.
The robot received positive feedback and praise from the public because it was fully designed, built and programmed by UniSZA.
Here, watch it in action:
“This is the fruit of Mechanical, Electronic, Computing and Arts Research Group (MECCA)’s labour. It is a research group that consists of five lecturers from the Faculty of Industrial Design and Technology (FRIT), and the Faculty of Informatics and Computing (FIK),” Professor Madya said.
What’s more, MECCA is an official group representing UniSZA in the Robocon Competition, national and internationally. The robot was created using 3D printing technology and it took them around three weeks to complete it!
The professor said that robot Naseem is actually the third robot that was developed by MECCA. The name ‘Naseem’, which means ‘gentle breeze’ was said to symbolize the eight core values embedded in the university’s logo which are Knowledge, Faith and Moral Values, Charity, Leadership, Collaboration, Entrepreneurship, Transformation and Innovation.
Well done UniSZA! This one will definitely go down in history!
