Coffeemin offers free-flow Arabica coffee as well as some local biscuits in its establishment, which is designed to make visitors feel right at home, Vulcan Post reported.

Psst… you can even bring your own food there!

They also have free Wi-Fi, loads of Xbox games, a cool pool table, beautiful long dining tables, comfortable sofas and even flat-screen TVs!

But wait… all of that can’t be totally free right???

Well, Coffeemin operates in a way where you pay for the TIME you spend in the cafe, rather than what you consume. In other words, it’s kinda like a coffee, snacks and games buffet!

Customers pay SGD$6 (approx. RM18) for the first hour, and SGD$1 (approx. RM3) for every subsequent 10 minutes.

This unique cafe is the first of its kind and currently the ONLY one available in Asia.

The brain behind this new-age cafe is Jonathan Ye, who got the idea from when he was chased out of a cafe in New Zealand.

“I was in New Zealand for holiday when I was chased by the restaurant waitress.

“I had to go elsewhere to watch the video on my mobile phone, even though the restaurant was relatively empty.”

“Western culture accepts paying for services such as time and the staff would clear the table the moment we finished, so as to pressure customers to continue spending or leave.”

He realised that the typical Asian habit, where people tend to buy one drink and hog the seats in a cafe for a long time, is extremely frowned upon by ang mohs.

At first, it was difficult for Jonathan and his friends to maintain the cafe as typical Asians just found the concept extremely foreign, hence, they didn’t really dig it.

Thankfully, as time passed, more and more people began seeing the charm of this establishment.

Coffeemin even facilitates some pretty special events sometimes. Individuals have set up booths to sell iPhones or have video conferences, social media influencers have used the spot as a photo shoot location, and they’ve even hosted a Japanese butler cosplay event!
