Happiness does not necessarily mean making a boatload of money. To some, it can be as simple as doing something you like and better yet, making money from doing something you like.
To be stuck in a loop where you do something you don’t enjoy can be a living hell. In a post shared on the FB page Ricebowl铁饭网-解决您的求职难题, a Malaysian programmer confessed that he’s not a fan of his line of work. It’s not even his choice to work in the IT line, but his parents, whom he described as the major controlling factor in his decision making.
From typing on a keyboard to holding a wok
The man added that his parents have always pictured him working in the IT or dental line because these 2 guarantee him a bright future ahead, according to his parents. He couldn’t say no and voice out back then but last year, the man decided to regain control of his life.
He jumped ship from the IT industry to the F&B line. He now runs a noodle stall but with a challenge – the business is a secret from his family.
Secrets have weight, and those with untold stories will understand how tough it is to carry the weight every day. Unfortunately, his noodle business did not stay a secret for long.
“Months later, my relatives saw me at my stall and they told my parents about it.”
All hell broke loose.
The man had a huge argument with his parents, who were nowhere near happy to know about his noodle business. To them, their son has been wasting their money and he is now an unfilial son in their eyes.
“You’ve wasted our money that we used to pay for your education fees!”
It broke his heart to hear those words from his parents and wondered what he had done wrong.
“You’re the boss of your life”
Netizens, on the other hand, showed FULL support to the man for regaining control of his life, and even offered to visit his stall.
“Where is your stall? I’m going to support your business.”
“There’s nothing wrong when you’re being independent. I support you!”
“You make your own choice and you’re the only one who can walk until the finish line. You’re still young and this is the best time to live your life the way you want so you won’t regret in the future for not trying.”
“Tell your parents not to take any allowances from you.”
“I support you!”
“You’re the boss of your life and you’re the decision maker.”
We truly wish the man the best of luck in his business and hopefully, he can reach a common ground with his parents.
