Despite being in office for less than a month, Transport Minister Anthony Loke appears to have already made waves and improvements in within the transport industry.
On his first few days, he had gone to take the LRT during rush hour in order to experience what the rakyat felt on a daily basis.
This eventually led to a couple of improvements being made to its facilities.
Now, it appears that he is setting his sights on the service by KTM Komuter as well as the condition of the city’s main public transport hub, the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS).
In a Facebook post he wrote, “This evening, I went to see the KTM Komuter services and the situation at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan. I took the Komuter train from KL Sentral to the Bandar Tasik Selatan station together with two of my assistants.”
“I have received a lot of feedback from social media regarding the Komuter service and the problem regarding the Bus Entry Pass at TBS,” he explained.
“I will be meeting with KTMB’s (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd) management in the very near future to discuss with them ways to improve and increase the frequency of the Komuter service.”
He added, “I understand that KTMB are facing all sorts of operational issues and problems, brought about by the KVDT1 track upgrade project which is still not ready and the KVDT2 project which has been interrupted.”
Meanwhile, he also said that he will be meeting with the management of TBS to discuss the preparedness and readiness to manage huge crowds of passengers, commuters and people during weekends and festive periods.
Do you think that we can expect positive changes to the service by KTMB as well as the condition and handling of TBS in the near future?
