Uncle Kentang is now back to work to help the society in need following the completion of his home quarantine.
Yesterday (16 February), which was also his 59th birthday, Uncle Kentang fulfilled a promise that he once made to the people in Semenyih. According to his Facebook post yesterday, he used to promise them an affordable ambulance service with a fee as low as RM1 and he is happy that he finally kept his words.
“I don’t want them to delay medical treatment just because of financial problems, or else the illness will get worse and eventually there’s nothing you can do,” he expressed.
Pay what you can
He pointed out that many patients cannot afford the RM250 per trip for a private ambulance. In this case, those who can afford can pay a slightly lower price compared to the market price.
“To the patients who cannot afford, you can just pay RM1,” Uncle Kentang assured.
He also said that this program aims to help the patients with financial issues and they can also opt to pay RM50 or RM20, depending on their financial capability.
As he receives lots of calls for help on a daily basis, he hopes to execute this program within the Klang Valley somewhere in the near future.
“I’m doing as much as I can”
According to a report by Sin Chew, Uncle Kentang also revealed that despite the end of his home quarantine, he is still in the recovery process. As the Covid-19 virus is sure to leave the patients with side effects, he still finds himself short of breath sometimes.
“After being infected, I don’t feel like waiting. I want to do as much as I can.”
He also assured the people that he will get enough rest, but will prioritize certain matters, especially the ones that involve the rakyat’s donation money.
Happy belated birthday, Uncle Kentang! We cannot thank you enough for your contributions and we are forever indebted to you!
