In a speech which took place during UMNO’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday (January 13), UMNO Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan claimed that UMNO’s cooperation with DAP was better than what it had with PAS and Bersatu.
Describing UMNO’s working relationship with PAS as insincere and loyal, his latest statement coincided with another statement that “Political stands must be based on political realities, which is why UMNO is working with DAP in the unity government despite earlier statements made against DAP.”
He added that “UMNO is aware of DAP’s stand on issues, and DAP understands UMNO’s stand as well.”
“DAP do not fake friendships. Neither do we. We made the decision based on the most suitable choice that allow us to manage differences.”
The statement has caused an uproar, in particular from PAS leaders who have commented on the matter.
PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan was recorded in stating that UMNO has always been determined to eliminate PAS, which included its attempt to ban the Islamist party at some point in the past.
