A speedboat burst into flames near Phuket yesterday (April 1) morning, leading 6 people to sustain injuries and be taken to a hospital.
According to a report by Bangkok Post, the speedboat Thana Marine 555 ferried 33 tourists and a guide to the island of Koh Mai Thon from Tha Chalong pier.

The Phuket marine police shared that, after arriving at about 9am, the boat’s engine apparently developed a problem before catching fire and exploding.
Three Russian tourists and a guide, who were swimming near the boat during the incident, sustained shrapnel wounds from the explosion.

Meanwhile, the captain and two crew members were on the boat during the explosion, but only one crew member and the captain suffered burns.
The speedboat has been completely destroyed

The Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Centre has since dispatched a patrol vessel to assist Marine officials in their investigation into this matter. A fireboat was also sent to help extinguish the speedboat on fire.
