The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing, recently attended the launch of a high-speed train in Qingdao, China, which he lauded as a historic moment for our country.
Taking to his official Facebook page, Tiong shared that what was launched was not an ordinary train, but one that is adorned with promotional materials for tourism in Malaysia, aptly named the “Malaysia: Truly Asia” high-speed train.

Attached to the Facebook post are several photos of the launch event, which include performances depicting traditional Malaysian cultures, and the “Malaysia: Truly Asia” high-speed train itself. On the latter, a “Visit Malaysia 2026” logo can be seen on the outside of the train, while each carriage features places of interest in Malaysia.
In the caption, Tiong thanked the China Hongqiao International Investment Co., Ltd., and Hongqiao International Cultural and Sports (Hainan) Co., Ltd. for their strong support in promoting Malaysian tourism, as well as those who worked behind the scenes.


He added that the “Malaysia: Truly Asia” high-speed train is more than just a means a transport, but a “moving invitation” for the people of China to visit our country.
Seeing the train as the beginning of a new chapter in Malaysia-China cultural and tourism collaboration, Tiong hoped that it would inspire more Chinese nationals to explore and fall in love with Malaysia.

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture elaborated,
“Each carriage is packed with the spirit and beauty of Malaysia, from the lush mysteries of tropical rainforests and stunning seaside paradises to the historical charm of Malacca and George Town in Penang, the urban allure of Kuala Lumpur’s Twin Towers, and the familiar tastes of nasi lemak, satay, and teh tarik.”

Tiong also lauded the trusted friendship between Malaysia and China that goes back centuries, from Zheng He’s voyages to today’s Belt and Road Initiative.
