In light with the recent online abuse received by 16-year-old 2018 Asian Games skater, Fatin Syahirah Roszizi; legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk has express his support towards the skateboarding prodigy.
Earlier this week, she deleted ALL her posts on Instagram, leaving behind only a note of apology on her Instagram story. This came after netizens left insults and hate messages because she did very poorly when representing Malaysia in the Asian Games.
Immense support has been coming in for her since then, with the likes of Minister of Youth and Sports Syed Saddiq, Malaysian international songstress Yuna Zaraai and national skateboarder Joe Ipoh, sending out words of encouragement on their personal platforms.
As reported by Stadium Astro, Fatin then made her return to Instagram, thanking everyone for the support.
To everyone’s surprise, Tony Hawk himself commented on the post.
“Don’t give up! If I had listened to the haters throughout my life, I would have stopped skating way too soon,” he said.
He continued saying that the haters were only projecting their insecurities on her because they wish they had the courage to follow their dreams.
“You can be an inspiration to a new generation of Malaysian skaters,” he added.
Yes Fatin, you should not give up. Chin up and continue working hard for your passion. Soon you are going to stand shoulder t0 shoulder with you icons!
And for all you haters out there, know that your words can bring harm to one’s passion or dream. Spread positivity instead!
