In the era of sequels and remakes, movies that perform well at the box office tend to get the green light for continuation. Just look at how far the John Wick series has come, and it all started with a puppy.

Top Gun: Maverick, also known as Top Gun 2, is set for another triumphant return to the skies again in a 3rd installment. Similar to the Mission: Impossible movie series, there is no Top Gun without Tom Cruise, and fortunately for the fans and the audience, the 61-year-old actor has been confirmed to reprise his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.

It looks like a massively hectic schedule ahead for Tom as he is currently in production for the next installment of Mission Impossible, with the story taking place after the events of Dead Reckoning: Part One.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the script for Top Gun 3 is being written, with Miles Teller and Glen Powell, who played Bradley Bradshaw and Hangman, respectively, set to return. The intention is to reunite Tom with his next-gen co-stars.

Currently, there is no release date for Top Gun 3, and the plot is being kept under wrap. The 1st Top Gun was released in 1984, and its sequel, Maverick, “flew” in theatres in 2022.

Decades later, Tom is still nailing his look as Maverick.

Fans, however, can expect to see Tom Cruise in the next Mission Impossible, currently slated for a 2025 release.

Regardless, are you excited about the announcement of Top Gun 3? What do you wish to see in the 3rd installment of the movie?
