TikTok is allegedly down at the moment.
In a viral tweet by @wolfipali, the main server of TikTok in Singapore that covers Malaysia is experiencing a power outage. According to insider information that Fadzli obtained from an employee of TikTok in Malaysia, the power outage was due to a battery issue that caused a fire in the main system unit.
While you can still browse videos, TikTok users are unable to shop on TikTok shop at the time of writing (September 10), directly affecting the sellers in terms of sales and engagement.
“You may experience system error in inventory, yellow bag, and access to seller centre,” the employee said.
How long will it take for everything to recover?
Unfortunately, the employee could not provide a specific timeline for the recovery as the team is still working hard to fix the issue.
The outage is affecting other TikTok accounts too
In the meantime, the power outage also seems to be affecting the engagement for other TikTok accounts.
WORLD OF BUZZ has since tried uploading content onto our TikTok page but unfortunately, it gained zero views with no likes even after 3 hours. We also took the time to scout the TikTok pages of other portals and they seem to be experiencing zero to minimal engagement as well.
One of the leading Malay portals for social stories @ohbulanofficial gained only 7 likes an hour after posting its latest news.
English news site @nstonline gained only 1 like, 3 hours after posting.
In the meantime, a couple of Facebook users also shared about TikTok’s technical issue.
“Facebook was previously down, and today it’s TikTok. Consequently, it’s affecting content creators and sellers. Please be patient.”
A content creator from the Philippines also shared the same matter, saying that his uploaded videos have disappeared into thin air.
To all avid TikTok users, how’s the application on your end at the time being?
