The Malayan tigers are critically endangered creatures and it’s incredibly sad when one of them passes away.
On 16 May, a Malayan tiger passed away due to an accident on the Karak expressway at about 1:30 am. This accident was recorded on a car’s dashcam and it was posted on Facebook.
In the video, we can see that the car was driving at about 100km per hour when suddenly, the tiger leapt out from the side.
As it all happened in the blink of an eye, the driver could not evade or stop the vehicle and crashed into the tiger.
According to the Bentong police, this accident took place near Raub, and the 25-year-old Malaysian man was heading to Seremban when it happened.
The man was unhurt, but the front of his car was damaged in several places.
Pahang PERHILITAN director, Rozidan Md Yasin told KOSMO that the 130kg male tiger died on the spot.
“The adult tiger is estimated to be about 4 years old based on its physique. Our preliminary guess is that it came from the Bukit Tinggi reserve forest.”
According to WWF, there are less than 150 Malayan tigers in the wild, and that is a heartbreaking figure.
We hope that the government will investigate and find out how the tiger got onto the expressway.
