On this episode of mundane overpriced things that leave the internet speechless, we have Tiffany & Co.’s 18 Karat Gold Paper Clip Bookmark.

Yes, you saw that right. The luxurious 2.5-inch paper clip is priced at a hefty $1,500 USD (RM6,201.75) each and can be ironically found under the “Everyday Objects” tab of the jewellery brand’s website. Imagine the kind of wealth you’d need to acquire just to spend RM5k on a device that’s sole purpose is to hold sheets and be a bookmark.

Quite possibly one of the most expensive items of stationary known to us was described by Tiffany & Co. as the creation of  “Tiffany artisans transform(ing) utilitarian items into handcrafted works of art.” According to its description, the product is “an oversized paper clip reimagined in 18k gold as a whimsical bookmark.”

But if you’re not the type to go for gold, you can always “settle” for their Sterling Silver paper clip that’s going for a much cheaper price of $175 USD each (RM722). Other absurdly priced “Everyday objects” that you can find on Tiffany & Co.’s website include a set of 10 Lego pieces for $1,650 USD (RM6,806).

If you think that’s it, just look at how much this Sterling Silver tin can is going for. It’s priced at $1,025 USD (RM4,228).

We’re crying in poor. But what do you guys think of these outrageous prices for these ‘everyday objects’? Are they justified? Let us know in the comments!
