We get it, almost everyone’s favourite drink these days is the ubiquitous bubble tea and this craze seems to be taking over everything. If you’ve had it, you’ll know very well that this versatile beverage is notoriously sweet and it’s also common knowledge that consuming too much sugar is bad for your health and your waistline!
Now, a popular dietitian has come forward to share some tips and tricks so that you can wean yourself off your bubble tea addiction love. On top of that, she also shared THE best time to drink it so you won’t gain extra weight! Say no more, fam! Donna Chen, a popular dietitian, posted a video on her social media page not long ago and gave some advice to those who love to drink bubble tea.
At first, she dished out some advice on how to turn your “unhealthy” bubble tea drink into something relatively healthier. Here’s what she suggested we try:
- Gradually reducing the size of the drink from large to small
- Gradually reducing sugar level from full to less sugar
- Changing the habit of drinking bubble tea every day to every few days and finally cutting it out
- Choosing flavours that don’t require as much sugar content in its ingredients
- Choosing jelly or herbal jelly instead of pearls
But of course, the main point of the video is how to not gain extra fats from drinking bubble tea! To answer this, Donna says that the best time to drink bubble tea is within 30 minutes after you have finished your workout. Simply put, Donna explains that right after a workout, one of your body’s glucose transporter known as GLUT4 is especially active and during this time, it can use the sugar in the milk tea more quickly. And in case you think that walking to the bubble tea shop is good exercise, it’s not!
Although this may mean that you won’t gain extra weight from bubble tea, it is also likely that you won’t be losing any weight either after your workout. Moreover, she warns that if you drink it later than 30 minutes post-workout, the sugar will not be used up but will be turned into fat for storage. You don’t want that!
If you love drinking bubble tea, why not try this dietitian’s advice? That said, remember that it’s good to consume things in moderation okay?
