Back in July of last year, it was brought to the authorities’ attention that there were foreigners selling grilled corn and causing a smokey nuisance in front of KLCC, to which the authorities promptly took action by closing down and confiscating their items.
But, weirdly enough, around New Year’s day, the foreigners were spotted selling grilled corn in front of KLCC again and DBKL shut down their business… again. But, third time’s the charm, eh?
Netizen, Daryl, took to his TikTok page to showcase how the grilled corn seller have once again appeared in front of KLCC, less than a week after they were last shut down by the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL).
He wrote, “The jagung bakar (grilled corn) sellers are back at KLCC on January 6, 2024 (Saturday) at 8pm. They’re so daring to challenge DBKL.”
In the video, Daryl showcased the 2 foreign men once again selling grilled corn from the sidewalk right across from KLCC.
This led many to question how the 2 foreigners can still conduct their grilled corn business at the location when they’ve been shut down TWICE before.
“How can they open back just like that? It’s like nothing happened after catching them and seizing their items. It looks like the laws are not strict enough.”
“Take stricter action lah, adoi.”
“This means that they’re not scared of the authorities and the law.”
“This is them fighting back. They want to show to what extent DBKL can take action. Does DBKL not feel challenged? They’re challenging you.”
It appears that DBKL did, in fact, once again seize the grilled corn sellers’ items, as showcased in a video they posted 15 hours ago.
But the question now remains, how long is that going to last? We shall see.
