Ever since the Movement Control Order was announced, it has affected the lives of the rakyat as well as the front-line workers. Thankfully, Malaysia is filled with selfless citizens who are constantly looking after each other. Hearing heartwarming news of good deeds certainly makes our days pass by quicker as we fight through these trying times together. Read on to find out about the inspiring stories of these exemplary citizens:

1. Kind business owners donating their fresh produce

It’s expected that some businesses may be affected during the MCO period. However, there are business owners who are kind enough to put others above themselves.

In one case reported by Sinar, 53 wholesale vendors came together to give away 10 tonnes of free vegetables to residents in Kuantan. The residents each received a bag filled with 2kg’s worth of vegetables to last them a whole week. The vendors expressed that they hope this could decrease the movement of these residents during the MCO period. How thoughtful!

2. Heroic police officers giving back while on the job

There are also a few police officers that still managed to go out of their way and give back while they were on the job.

A post on Facebook told the story of two officers in Johor who saw a family out at the park during the MCO and tried to send them home. But it turns out the family had run out of money and food at home, and they even resorted to feeding their 1-year-old daughter Milo mixed with sugar. The kindhearted officers then took the family to a sundry shop and treated them to a supply of basic necessities.

3. Thoughtful Malaysians looking after our police officers

We all know that our police officers and the army are working night and day in order to enforce the MCO. Unfortunately, due to the shortage of masks, some of these front-liners are forced to work without proper protection.

But thanks to a few kindhearted Malaysians, this viral video posted on Facebook shows a man giving a stash of face masks and hand sanitisers to police officers to help them carry out their duty.

Malaysians certainly never disappoint!

4. Resourceful community helping out front-line workers

Other than face masks, our front-line workers also reported having faced a shortage of medical supplies. This has left them to modify their own equipment by either making their own face shields or improvising plastic bags to fashion a protective suit.

Seeing this, thoughtful individuals have decided to lend a helping hand to our front-liners. As reported by Malay Mail, a few Malaysians started a Facebook group to gather a community who can use their 3D printers for good by donating face shields to the front-liners.

No matter how big or small the gesture is, these Malaysians have certainly restored our faith in humanity and proved once again that Malaysians are united under one heart. It also shows us how crucial it is to help those in need, especially during tough times like these.

If these stories have inspired you to lend a helping hand but you don’t have the means to go out and help the front-liners, don’t worry! There’s still an easy peasy way for you to give back.

With as little as RM1, you can also make a difference through the Tabung Covid-19 by Boost, where Malaysians can easily contribute via their e-wallet.

The MCO has also made it harder for some of us to go out and get our necessities as our movements are restricted and supplies are also limited. If you’re experiencing this, you can check out the Rakyat Cashback campaign where you can receive up to 15% cashback relief when you spend with the app, both online & offline, from now to 19 April 2020.

You can conveniently get your groceries, food delivery, healthcare essentials, household items and more with Boost’s selected online partners such as JOCOM, dahmakan, CARiNG Online, and Prestomall. You can get covered from head to toe, even with essential services such as an online consultation with a doctor via BookDoc & DoctorOnCall. For BookDoc, just register via Campaign Users Sign Up with the code 882362.

Now there’s really no reason for you to get out!

But if you’ve got no choice but to head out for groceries or other essentials, you can still save when you shop at AEON BiG, Giant, MYDIN & Tesco where you can enjoy RM10 cashback when you spend a minimum of RM88. But remember! When you do go out, PLEASE take all the necessary precautions like wearing masks & gloves and also staying sanitised.
