In the past week, we’ve seen many people share pictures of God of Wealth figurines made of blocks.
At a glance, it really seems that Lego made it but upon some sleuthing, we found out that it came from China.
These blocks are in several parts, meaning that you can buy the altar and the God figurine or get the offering table too. They are sold separately.
The offering table is really cute as it has a tiny whole chicken, fruits and vegetables that you would normally see.
Now, Shopee sells the exact same figurines as well but it costs quite a lot for something so small.
After doing some image searches, we managed to find the blocks on TaoBao and they are definitely cheaper. This particular listing goes from RM76 to RM445 according to the size and amount of blocks.
There are multiple guides on the Internet teaching you how to buy directly from Taobao but you can also use an agent.
Now if you’re wondering how you can use it, it seems to be a good decoration to have during Chinese New Year or when you’re running a business.
Multiple pages on different social media platforms have also suggested placing it on your work desk so that you can have the “huat”.
If you would like something a little less “worship-y”, a more cartoonish God of Wealth may be suitable for you. It’s cheaper as well.
