Claims that Malaysians are entitled to an additional quota under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy have been debunked by the Ministry of Finance (MOF).
In a statement, MOF clarified that reports of an increased BUDI95 subsidy limit are “completely untrue and unfounded.”

The ministry added that, although the feature was introduced during the early stages of the rollout, it was never intended for individuals to apply for extra quotas based on personal needs.
The button in the BUDI95 portal has been disabled to stop Malaysians from requesting higher quotas
MOF clarified that the additional application feature on the BUDI95 portal had been misunderstood as a way for anyone to request higher quotas, and the button has now been disabled.
“Although this feature was introduced at the early stage of BUDI95’s implementation, it was never meant for individuals to apply for extra quotas based on personal needs. It was designed for specific cases with clear, verified operational requirements, such as e-hailing drivers or boat owners, subject to certain criteria,” the statement said.
The ministry also emphasised that the BUDI95 monthly limit of 200 litres remains in place to ensure the subsidy reaches most Malaysians and that supply stays stable.
“This temporary measure was necessary due to ongoing global energy market pressures, which have increased subsidy costs and call for more careful management,” it added.

Meanwhile, MOF said data shows the 200-litre limit is enough for 90% of BUDI95 users.
“The government will continue to protect the public, step up enforcement to prevent leakages, and keep a close eye on global energy markets, while staying ready to make any necessary adjustments,” it added.
