Everything that has a beginning, has an end. For the fans of the Fast & Furious movie franchise, this might not be what you want to hear, but brace yourselves for the ending of an era.
The Fast & Furious movie series which has been gracing the screen since our childhood will officially end with Fast 11, which is slated for a release in 2025. The previous Fast 9 was released in cinemas in 2021 after multiple delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Fast 10 (stylised as Fast X) is speeding into theatres on May 19 this year.
Just recently, the main “family” of the Fast franchise, Vin Diesel spoke to the fans at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and thanked them for their continuous support for over 20 years, since the beginning of the franchise with 2001’s The Fast & The Furious.
Time flies!
In the meantime, Louis Leterrier, the director of Fast X will continue to helm the final instalment of the Fast Franchise, as reported by Variety. Diesel also said that he is proud to see how far the Fast franchise has come, and highlighted it as being the longest-running franchise that stars the same casts.
“The audience is our family. And as we were building toward this achievement, we were attracting directors who each brought their own magic to the saga.”
He went on to say how the film has contributed to every director’s success over the years.
“I’m proud to say for 2 decades, the Fast films have been the most successful film of every one of our director’s careers.”
At the time of writing (April 29), no details of the plot nor the release date have been revealed. At least for now, we know that we don’t have to wait too long before the final installment kicks in.
During the filming of Fast 7, one of the main casts, Paul Walker met his demise in a horrific accident. His remaining scenes were then replaced by his brother.
