Plastic surgery is a way for many people to change the way they look and it’s a common occurrence nowadays.
Recently, it was reported by The Thaiger that a drug lord in Thailand, had gone under the knife several times over the year to change his appearance to one that resembles a Korean man.
Sarahat Sawangjaeng, 25, who now goes as Jimin Cheong, has been arrested at a condominium in the Bang Na district of Bangkok.
He admitted to importing a big amount of the drug, MDMA from Europe into Thailand via the dark web before selling it to the locals.
On 11 November 2022, Thai customs officials found about 2.575kg of the MDMA drug along with 290 ecstasy pills inside a jigsaw puzzle box. The police managed to track the parcel to Sarahat Sawangjaeng.
After the police had gathered enough evidence, the Criminal court then issued a warrant of arrest on Sarahat. However, they were unable to track him down.
The police then decided to change tactics and sent in a spy into the close ranks of Sarahat. The undercover police got into contact with the drug lord and told him that he was interested in working as a mule.
The 25-year-old agreed and ordered more drugs from the dark web for his new mule to sell in Bangkok. He also told the mule that he has plans to move to South Korea but he is still in Bangkok.
The spy even managed to find out that the drug lord was living in a luxury residence in the Bang Na area which led to Sarahat getting arrested on 24 February.
As the police officers entered the condo unit, they were shocked to find a “handsome Korean man.” Sarahat’s face had changed so much until the police said “none of his original face was left.” Even his name was changed to Jimin Cheong!
In that operation, the police seized 2 phones used by “Jimin” to order drugs and other assets.
He was arrested under suspicion of importing a Category 1 narcotic (MDMA) into Thailand for distribution.
This was certainly a wild ride. Kudos to the police for managing to stop this drug lord who is detrimental to society.
