It’s been a couple of weeks now since the formation of the government’s Jihad Task Force to fight inflation, consisting of ministers from multiple industries.
And while the task force didn’t actually gain much support from the people, what’s more apparent is that since the time of its formation, there really hasn’t been anything done to fulfil their cause.
Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) President and Muar MP, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman recently took to his Facebook page to question the task force on their lack of progress.
He wrote, “Where’s the missing Jihad Special Task Force to tackle inflation? The special team announced by the government at the end of June has yet to issue any framework on inflation in Malaysia.”
His concern echoed a simple question – what happened?
“To this day, we do not understand why the team that aims to fight the prices of goods is chaired by the Minister of Communications. We also will not get an answer as to why there are already 4 committees related to the pricing of goods and the cost of living, but the government had set up another special task force,” he added.
He even listed out the 4 already existing committees:
- National Action Council on Cost of Living (NACCOL)
- National Consumer Action Council, better known by the name Majlis Tindakan Pengguna Negara (MTPN)
- Economic Action Council (EAC)
- Majlis Pemulihan Negara (MPN)
“What about the others and where are their reports?”
It is truly distressing to know that there are already so many committees aimed at fighting inflation and the skyrocketing prices of goods and yet, there seem to be no outcomes or results.
We genuinely hope that the government takes notice of this and works harder towards becoming more fruitful with their initiatives.
