Some people pay a lot of attention to the way their significant others dress, to a point where it may come off as very controlling. In a survey conducted by dating application SweetRing, they have found out that 60% of Malaysian men don’t like their girlfriend dressing sexily.
In a media statement reporting the survey on dating habits participated by 600 Malaysians, they found that 60% of the men do not like their girlfriends wearing shorts or revealing tops. As for their hair cuts, men like their significant others to have long hair and would like to have a say in any changes in hairstyle.
As for the women, 50% of women say that they will be open to changing their style according to their significant others’ preference. 40% of them said that they would not like it if a man wore a singlet out on a date. The others said that they would be alright with it.
Moving in together is a big step in a relationship and SweetRing found out that both men and women believe that hygiene is the key to keeping a long-term relationship. Up to 70% of men are very concerned whether women will clean the drain after taking a shower while 60% of women are very concerned about men not shaving. A few women think that littering is a deal-breaker.
43% of Malaysian men are okay with the presence of body hair, however, if their significant other got rid of their body hair (e.g eyebrow plucking) and it doesn’t look good, then they will not be able to accept it.
In addition to that, the survey also found that 30% of men care that the other party had experience moving in together with another man as they are worried that they would be compared with their ex. On the other hand, 80% of women say that they actually prefer someone who has had experience moving in together with a past significant other.
It is worth noting that this survey was only carried out on 600 Malaysians and it may not represent all men and women. In terms of looking for love, we believe that you don’t need to change your appearance just to please someone, the best thing is to actually love yourself and be yourself!
