Fashion is a way to express culture, identity, and creativity, and Malaysia is no stranger to this trend.
Malaysia was recently ranked as one of the trendiest countries in the world, based on factors such as cultural influence, fashion, lifestyle, and overall appeal to both residents and tourists.
Singapore surpassed Malaysia
Based on a study conducted by CEOWORLD Magazine, Malaysia was ranked 15th out of 50 countries for trendiness, with a score of 80 in art, design, and culture.
It’s not far behind Singapore, which is in 12th place with a score of 83. Other Southeast Asian countries that made it into the top 50 include Thailand at 23rd, the Philippines at 25th, and Indonesia at 35th.
France topped the list with a score of 94, followed closely by Italy with a score of 93 and Canada in 3rd place with a score of 92. Meanwhile, Serbia landed at the bottom of the list with a score of 44.
The methodology used
CEOWORLD Magazine revealed that the ranking for the trendiest countries comes from a detailed survey of over 126,000 people across various regions, including the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East/Africa.
The ranking evaluates 126 nations and is based on 3 main factors which are fashion landscape, art, design & culture, and market competitiveness.
To calculate the overall “trend score”, they rated each country in these 3 categories, with a maximum possible score of 100.
The trend score comes from analysing language used on the internet, blogs, news media, and social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram. This helps track the buzz around different places and figure out what’s trending.
