A recent study has named Malaysia in a list of countries where you are most likely to die on the road.
In fact, our country placed third in the unwanted ranking, only behind first-place Saudi Arabia and Thailand at second.
The study, conducted by experts at the car subscription service FINN analysed the number of fatalities due to car accidents in each country and ranked the most dangerous countries by deaths per 100,000 people.
Accordingly, our country has one of the worst statistics by the aforementioned metrics, recording 22.48 deaths per 100,000 people. The full rankings of the world’s deadliest roads are as below:
The same study also lists down the top 20 safest roads in the world, with Iceland topping the charts at just 2.05 deaths recorded per 100,000 people. Norway is second and making up the top 5 are Switzerland, Ireland and Sweden.
Japan is the only Asian country that made it into the top 10 safest roads list, placing a commendable 7th spot. The full list of the top 10 safest roads in the world can be viewed below:
