Mother nature can be scary at times!
On Sunday (9 January), a paraglider had to suffer injuries on his backbone after “crash-landed” into the compound of a mosque in Padang Kulim, Kuala Ketil, Kedah. It is believed that when the victim was paragliding and roaming in the air, the strong wind had brought him all the way to Kedah from Pengkalan Hulu Perak, Perak, which was his starting point!
The victim, who is 34-years old and from Banting, Selangor, is said to have taken off in his paraglider around 12 PM in Perak and about 90 minutes later when he was still roaming the air, a strong wind started to blow which caused him unable to control his glider. After being hit by the strong wind, the victim landed within the area of the mosque, which prompted the people around to immediately inform the authorities.
Superintendent Shamsudin Mamat, Baling State Chief Police said that officers on duty in Kuala Ketil Police Station contacted the health clinic upon receiving the information from the public.
“They contacted the health clinic to get an ambulance to the scene. At 1:55 PM, the victim was successfully brought to the hospital for futher treatment,” he added.
Despite his injuries, the victim is reported to be in a stable condition. As of now, no police reports were lodged regarding the incident, however, it has been circulating on social media since the day it happened.
