Opportunities to work overseas are few and far between. But for those who have a yearning to experience what it is like to be employed in foreign countries, these possibilities should always be pursued if one comes across them.

Such was an instance for a Singaporean named Dinah, who recently took to her TikTok page @dee.n4h to share how she managed to land a temporary job on a farm in New Zealand. In a concise yet succinct clip, Dinah revealed the process she took in order to land the work opportunity on a farm in Flaxmere, a township located in the Hastings District of New Zealand.

Revealing the process, Dinah stated that she attended a walk-in interview for the position, bringing along four crucial items: her passport, a valid visa, a tax number unique to the New Zealand Inland Revenue Department (IRD) and a New Zealand base bank account.

After completing the formal process, it was straight to the job for Dinah. Sharing snippets of her experience, Dinah stated that tasks on her first day included on-the-job training, followed by immediate work itself. In total, Dinah disclosed that her work day begins at 7am and concludes at 1pm daily.

In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Dinah stated that she applied for a Working Holiday Visa (Malaysians would need to apply for the Malaysian Working Holiday Visa), details of which can be found on the official website of the Immigration Department of New Zealand. As for her reasons behind pursuing the opportunity, Dinah said it was ultimately to push herself out of her comfort zone that she was used to in Singapore.

“I think what my country provided was comfort, stability, and accessibility. So I just left and believed that there was something more for me out there,” said Dinah to WORLD OF BUZZ.

According to the Singaporean, she will be returning to her home country once her visa expires, though she does have plans to return to New Zealand on a long-term basis in the near future.

Aside from work, Dinah also shared some of her experiences while living in New Zealand with WORLD OF BUZZ, including activities she pursued such as kayaking and visiting a nearby waterfall.
