A 76-year-old Singaporean man has gone missing in the Everest region. According to The Straits Times, Harry Tan went missing near the Kongma La Pass in Nepal, south of Everest Base Camp.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told the Straits Times that through the Singapore High Commission in New Delhi, it has been in close contact with the family of the missing man and the local authorities in Nepal.
“Search-and-rescue operations are underway,” the spokesperson said, adding that MFA will continue to monitor developments and give the family consular support.
The Kongma La Pass is considered a challenging trekking route at a high altitude, offering views of Mount Everest. It is part of the Three Passes Trek, which can take about two to three weeks to complete.
We pray for Tan’s safe rescue.
