A wedding ceremony is 1 of the most important highlights in our lives, so we want it to be as grand and as special as possible, with the presence of the people that matter. On this special occasion, does the venue really matter?
In the recent past, we had a couple who held their wedding at a fast food chain, so who says we can’t have a budget-friendly (or rather, ultra unique & memorable) venue for a wedding? According to a TikTok post by @purtyboys, a Singaporean couple recently tied the knot at a Kopitiam and kept everything traditional, including the food that was served to the guests – toasts, half-boiled eggs, and coffee!
The bride herself took the opportunity to serve the traditional breakfasts to the guests!
The guests, as well as the newlyweds, looked happy during the ceremony despite the unique location where a usual breakfast spot turned into a wedding wedding venue. The marriage was solemnised in front of the cashier counter of the Kopitiam, known as Yakun.
In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, the couple’s close friend said that the plan came to their mind as early as 2019, and there is a special reason why Yakun was selected as their wedding venue.
“Their names, when put together, is pronounced as Yakun.”
The couple is also a huge fan of traditional breakfasts, especially those you can expect to get at a Kopitiam. Their friends also agreed with the idea of having the wedding ceremony at the Kopitiam because according to their friends, it matches the newlyweds’ energy!
“I think it fits their vibes, so they were encouraged them to hold the wedding here at Yakun.”
The guests also enjoyed themselves at the scene, despite not knowing what to expect at first. You can watch the clip below and perhaps get inspiration to have a simple but meaningful wedding in the future.

Food really brings everyone together, and they don’t even have to be gourmet or fancy. Best wishes to the newlyweds! Fellow Malaysians, what say you? Do any of you lovebirds foresee yourself defying the odds and holding a wedding at a Kopitiam?
