Form Five and Form Six students who are sitting for major examinations this year will be vaccinated starting July, next month.
During a press conference today with Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy and Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Khairy Jamaluddin, it was said the students will be administered the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines at their respective schools.
“We are trying to get it done in July and complete the process (second dose) by August. The Ministry of Education plans to send the students back to school by the end of July or August.
However, this largely depends on the pandemic’s situation and the number of cases (for examination classes to reopen). To ensure a smooth process, schools will be utilised as the Vaccine Administration Centres (PPV),” he said.
On Wednesday, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced that the Comirnaty vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNTech has been approved for use on individuals aged 12 and above.
He said that the decision was reached at the 359th Drug Control Authority (PKBD) meeting.
