At your 17s and 18s, the most important thing to be concerned about is getting As in your SPM, so, many put importance on even a single mark.
Some SPM candidates were crestfallen yesterday (21 February) when they came out of their exam halls after their BM listening test.
There was a part in the listening test that talked about a woman, Iman who went to a resort named Salang Sayang in Tioman island.
However many candidates got the name of the resort wrong as apparently the pronunciation was unclear and they did not know of the existence of this resort.
So, when they found out the name of the resort, out of frustration some started to leave bad reviews on the resort’s Google page.
“The name Salam Dayang is nice but what is Salam Sayang. You are the reason why SPM 2021 candidates fail.”
“Because of you, I lost a mark.”
Seeing this, many other candidates then tried to help the resort by giving them 5-star reviews and apologising on their behalf.
The resort was very confused at first as to why there were suddenly so many DMs and reviews, but after an explanation by a helpful teen, they understood what was going on.
“Those taking SPM had a listening test today (21 February) and there was a statement that said Iman went to vacation at Salang Sayang but that part was unclear. No one knew until they chanced upon your resort.”
However, they decided not to take it personally.
“To all SPM candidates (born in) ’04, there are too many DMs and comments that are coming in. Good luck to you all and thank you for noticing our resort.”
“Please come to the resort when SPM ends. Salang Sayang is not the one in the wrong, the person who made the question must have been here.”
As of the time of writing, the resort has received a total of 1,485 reviews to date and an average rating of 4.8 stars.
Remember that reviews can be a decision-maker when people are planning to go to a place, so when there are tons of bad reviews, it may affect their business.
So let’s think before we do anything rash that may affect other parties.
