A Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) candidate was arrested by the Kedah National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) while returning from a holiday in Thailand yesterday (16 September).
According to a report by Berita Harian, the 17-year-old Form 5 student from a secondary school in Penang was detained with three of his 18-year-old friends while they were riding 2 motorcycles at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS) at 3:45 PM.

The AADK team’s examination found that all 4 of them tested positive for ketamine. They are believed to have shared a cigarette containing the drug while partying in Thailand.
“The results of the investigation found that the teenager, who is an only child, lives with his grandparents after his parents divorced when he was 9 years old. The reason he gave for taking the drug was stress and a desire to experiment,”
“Additionally, he also admitted that it was the second time he had tried the drug after the first time he entered Thailand before this,” shared Kedah AADK Director, Khairul Anwar Ahmad.
6 teenagers were arrested
In total, AADK Kedah arrested 6 individuals, aged 17 to 19 years old, in the operation after urine screening tests found them to be positive for drugs.
“The cases are being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Addicts (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983,” Khairul Anwar Ahmad added.
