A Malaysian is urging the public to be more responsible after an individual set off fireworks in the middle of a road during heavy traffic in Senawang, Seremban.

The witness took to the Negeri Sembilan Kini Facebook page to anonymously share how the stunt could have easily endangered lives.

“In the festivities and excitement of celebrating Aidilfitri, let’s not have so much fun that we ignore safety,” they wrote.

“Last Saturday, at Dataran Senawang, during the peak hour of people looking for parking, there was an individual who carelessly set off fireworks in the middle of the road.”

“The road was busy, vehicles were moving slowly, and children were passing by, yet someone was still setting off fireworks.”

The witness went on to explain how some passers-by actually cheered as the fireworks were lit, seemingly oblivious to the risks of using pyrotechnics in such a crowded space.

“Imagine if there was a motorcyclist with a child in front who was suddenly hit by a piece of sulphur or if it got into their eyes. Who would be responsible if anything happened?” they questioned.

“My own car was hit by firecracker debris as they were set off right next to me while traffic was crawling. After the person lit them, they ran away.”

They concluded the post by pointing out that while setting off fireworks may seem like a minor thrill to the perpetrator, it can quickly escalate into a life-altering accident.
