Though not able to replace real-time diagnostic function of RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) tests, the first Malaysian-made Rapid Antigen Kit (RTK) can help ramp up testing and allow us to get that much closer to beating the Covid-19 pandemic.
Taking to Twitter, @AmeerFarhan shared that the self-test kits will be available to the public come Monday.
“The first Malaysian-made RTK self-test kit will be available for the public from Monday, time to get tested and curb this pandemic.”
“Currently it is available for pre-order. Retail price for Salaxium is at RM39.90 per unit.”
That sounds legit.
Commenting on the newly minted test kits, President to the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) Amrahi Buang said that the Covid-19 self-test kits can only be used for Covid-19 screening and not as a diagnostics tool.
“If the self-test kits give you a positive result, then there must be a follow up with an RT-PCR test.”
So, if you are looking out to take a proactive step in your fight against Covid-19, give this a run and let us know what your experience is like with it!
