A group of men was arrested in a raid at a gay spa on 28 November, and 17 of them were civil servants as young as 19.

The operation, launched at 8 PM, was carried out by Division D7 (Secret Societies, Gambling, and Vice) of the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent (IPK), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), and the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), following two weeks of intelligence gathering.

According to Kuala Lumpur Deputy Police Chief Datuk Mohd Azani Omar, a total of 201 individuals were arrested, including seven employees of the premises.

“The arrests involved 24 foreigners, while the rest were locals, including 17 civil servants aged between 19 and 60 years old.”

Some were found in the jacuzzi during the raid

The raid took place on the second and third floors of a building in Chow Kit. Members were asked to remove their clothes before being given white towels. The premises also featured a special room called a “dark room” with a thin black mattress for visitors.

Several items, including condoms, were confiscated by PDRM. Mohd Azani said the premises had been operating for eight to ten months and were suspected of promoting activities through social media.

“The centre charges RM35 for each entry, with an additional RM10 as a registration fee for new members,” he said.

Specialist doctors, teachers, deputy public prosecutors, diplomatic administrative officers, and enforcement agency officers were also among those arrested.

One of those arrested, a 40-year-old engineer from Sarawak, admitted that although he is married, he is attracted to men, and that his wife in Miri is completely unaware of his secret. He was caught with a 19-year-old college student, who revealed that he had visited the spa twice following suggestions from friends, as reported by Kosmo!.

“Initially, I just wanted to try out this place. But I didn’t expect this to happen.”

The case is being investigated under Section 377B of the Penal Code.
