Earlier, the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) was accused of covering up the truth about a massive crowd of people at the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) in Shah Alam, after deleting a post that said how the pictures that had gone viral at the location were fake.

Since then, KKM has released a new statement sharing that the whole situation was just a misunderstanding.

KKM took to their Facebook page to clear things up.

“There was some confusion”

They wrote, “There was some confusion regarding the actual situation at the Covid-19 Assessment Center (CAC) at Malawati Stadium, Shah Alam, which was uploaded yesterday. The three photos shared by KKM were taken on the same day, Thursday, 8 July, 2021.”

Viral pictures taken at different times

The confusion apparently came from the fact that the pictures were taken at different times throughout the day.

“The situation in the morning was under control and calm. However, the situation began to get crowded in the afternoon, with the presence of those Covid-19 positive patients for further assessments.”

“Most of the Covid-19 patients on that day were from categories one and two. Individuals who tested positive were advised to come in the morning to avoid congestion as the evaluation process also takes some time,” they explained.

They shared their regrets over the misunderstanding.

“We apologise for the confusion that has caused misunderstanding among the public, especially the health workers in the field,” they added.
