These vaccinated Malaysians hope that they can finally be able to easily commute across the Causeway as they did before the pandemic.

A number of Malaysians whoare working across the Tebrau Straits in Singapore have already gotten their Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine through the country’s national vaccination programme. As reported by national news agency Bernama, those that are lucky enough to have been vaccinated are mostly working in sectors given priority by Singapore.

These Malaysians shared their inoculation experience via a popular Facebook page called the Malaysian-Singapore Border Crossers that has almost 82,000 members. The page caters to those who frequently travel between the two countries and it’s especially popular amongst Malaysians working in Singapore.

One Malaysian, Imra Astata Ibrahim have taken the first Pfizer vaccine injection on January 13 and will be getting a second dose on 3 February. In case you didn’t know, the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine requires two doses administered between 21 days in order to be effective.

He now hopes that following the vaccination, Malaysia and Singapore would create a mutual understanding allowing movement of vaccinated workers to commute between the two countries. The Johorean also said that he didn’t exhibit any side-effects from the vaccine except a slight numb and pain at the injection area during the first day.
