Eating out is a convenience that we love to indulge in as we get to eat all sorts of delicious food without having to do all of that tedious cooking and cleaning for a meal. Especially if you are lazy, like some of us here! However, a recent post by a Facebook user who was working in a bak kut teh shop, shamed some customers who ate and ran away without paying.

According to the post, he said the incident happened on Saturday, August 26, at around 7.50pm when a couple came into the bak kut teh shop in Johor Bahru for dinner. He said, “This couple came in our shop and they were dressed neatly and smartly as well as holding branded bags and mobile phones. I served them as usual and did not think much about it.”

“After they finished their meal, the guy told me that he had left his wallet in the car and needed to take it from the car to pay. I believed him and told him he could do so. He went to the car but when I looked again, his girlfriend was standing at the entrance of the restaurant.”

That was when he started to feel suspicious about their behaviour and thought that if they didn’t come back with the money, he would have to fork out RM80 from his own pocket to cover their meal. He immediately rushed to inform his boss, in case anything happened.

His boss quickly hurried to the entrance to keep a close eye on the couple but when he reached there, the shameless couple had already hopped in the car. Before his boss could do anything, the guy stepped on the accelerator and got away.

The netizen said, “I still remember the car they were driving, it was a silver colour Toyota Camry. I can’t believe that they had the audacity to do such things, as it was just an RM80 bill!”

He was also angry as the car looks like it was allegedly using a Singapore registered car plate number and said that RM80 converted to Singapore dollars would only be about S$25.

Other netizens who saw his status also criticised the couple and condemned their behaviour for running away without paying after eating a meal. No point wearing nice clothes and holding branded goods if your personality is so classless!

Guess you really can’t judge a book by its cover!
