The search for the sinkhole victim ended at midnight. As of 10:30 am today (August 25), the rescue work has yet to begin as rescuers were seen having a briefing at the scene.
In a report by 8TV News, the search and rescue team (SAR) was waiting for more firefighters and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officials to arrive before starting the operation.
Dang Wangi district Chief Police, Sulizmie Affendy, was also at the scene to discuss the matter with the victim’s husband with the help of an interpreter.
Her son, Surya, patiently waited at the scene, hoping for his mum, Vijayaletchumi, to be found by the rescuers, reported Astro Awani.
Yesterday (August 24), rescuers inspected 6 manholes along 7 KM of sewage line, but unfortunately, PDRM said there were no signs of Vijayaletchumi, who fell into the sinkhole on Friday morning (August 23).
