Federal Route FT 185 Section 43.9 at Jalan Simpang Pulai-Blue Valley heading to Cameron Highlands was completely closed to all vehicles due to safety factors, due to continuous heavy rain yesterday (18 September).
The Kinta District Public Works Department in a statement last night (18 September), as quoted by BERNAMA, stated that the closure notice is effective at 9.00 last night until a date to be announced later. The statement elaborated,
“Road users can use the alternative route of Jalan Persekutuan FT 059 Jalan Tapah-Cameron Highlands for temporary communication roads. The inconvenience is very regrettable.”
The statement also said the incident involved a 30-meter road with a depth of 4.57 meters, detected at about 5.45 pm and likely occurred due to continuous rain and caused the soil structure to be weak and unstable. The District Public Works Department and the Federal Road concessionaires will continue to monitor the area and any updates will be shared soon.
