Respecting our elders should be a natural thing. So of course people are antagonized by this video of youngsters beating up an elderly man.

Though the incident actually took place in 2015, videos of this incident recently resurfaced and went viral once again.

The video originated from East Jawa, Indonesia and local police have confirmed this incident to be true, Netral News reported.

“The elderly man in the video has been identified and immediately followed by contacting his family members.”

But the policeman also revealed a horrifying truth. The teenager doing all the beating was actually the elderly man’s OWN SON!

“There are three teenagers caught on the video. The one doing the beating is named Arif while two others, Crisye and Febri, are siblings and just friends of Arif. However, they were not involved in the beating as they were just holding the sticks.”

Apparently, both the father and son have a history of psychiatric disorder. The elderly man also frequently stole or destroyed neighbour’s belongings.

What initiated this beating was how the father had wandered into a neighbour’s yard which raised alarm in local citizens.

“Arif and his friend Crisye received a complaint from residents and so they went to get the elderly man and forced him to go home. And that was when the beating, which shouldn’t have happened, took place by the roadside.”

The wife of Sukiyat and the mother of Arif told the press about the elderly man’s illness.

“He has suffered from a mental disorder since his youngest son was still little. I don’t know why (he has the disorder) and we did not press on curing it even until he passed away.”

The police explained that the elderly man just passed away not too long ago.

“Sukiyat himself has passed away three months ago, around November 2016. Meanwhile, the recorded incident took place in about mid 2015. So this video is actually old but it just recently popped up.”

Sadly, beating up Sukiyat was quite a normal thing in the small town.

“When he was still alive, he was frequently beaten up by residents. Perhaps it was because of his mental disorder which lead him to often destroy or steal, and end up as a target for abuse.”

“He passed away due to an infection from a wound in his leg which had never healed.”

According to the police, this case cannot proceed in court because of the psychological disorder that both father and son had.

“Although (the disorder) is temporary, this case will be redirected to the relevant agencies in the government sector which handles mental issues.”

“Because the perpetrator of this case is suspected to have a mental disorder, this is out of our jurisdiction. However, this does not mean we will stop our commitment from ensuring this violent case does not repeat in the future.”

Indeed, such cases should never happen!

Watch the video here:

It is sad that violence has become an answer to many problems today. Just because the elderly man had some sort of mental issue, people in that town resorted to violence.

And the most heartbreaking part was that he died from a wound inflicted by one of those countless beatings.

To everyone out there, Violence is NEVER the solution.
